Insulation scheme ‘giving work to young Maori’

In the News

Ms Turei told Radio National’s Waatea News programme that the Warm Up New Zealand: Heat Smart scheme is getting young Maori off the dole queue.

She says the scheme is also improving the health and wealth of many Maori families, who have warmer, dryer houses and lower heating costs.

Ms Turei says the Government should now launch a major state house building programme, which would address both the predicted loss of 20,000 construction jobs in the weakening economy and the need for another 70,000 affordable homes in New Zealand.
