50% subsidies available for insulating some rental properties!
Some landlords are eligible for 50% funding to insulate their rental properties under the latest EECA's Warm Up New Zealand: Healthy Homes programme.
Good news for landlords as the recent budget announced an additional $36 million to make New Zealand homes warmer drier and healthier.
- $18 million has been earmarked to extend the Warm Up New Zealand:Healthy Homes programme for two years to help insulate rental properties with low-income tenants, especially those with health needs.
- A further $18 million has been allocated over four years to help overcome preventable illnesses among young children (newborn to 5 years old) through the Healthy Home Initiative to address damp, cold and unhealthy homes.
The extra $18m funding for insulation under the EECA programme should be welcomed by landlords as the Residential Tenancies Amendment bill currently before parliament is set to make insulation mandatory. Read more
